Four false myths about sport and exercise

Are mornings the best time to exercise because more calories are burned? According to Udermann, we burn exactly the same number of calories at 5 a.m. and 5 a.m.; What's more, physical performance is often reduced in the morning because body temperature is at its lowest and so are vitality and energy levels. However, some studies suggest that at that time we could burn more fat.

Does sports increase appetite? Rather, on the contrary: it reduces it. Recent studies reveal that running increases sensitivity to leptin, a hormone released by fat cells warning that the time has come to stop eating. In addition, physical exercise increases the amount of amilin in your blood, which minimizes the feeling of hunger.

Do the hole disappear by drinking water with sugar? It's another false myth. As Udermann explained to VERY Interesting, "the holes that appear after sports are due to muscle damage at the microscopic level, and not to the formation of lactic acid, as many people believe; therefore, it is also not true that they disappear by drinking water with sugar." As the researcher has shown, there are only two things that seem to minimally prevent the hole: gentle stretches and light physical activity after intense exercise, for example by taking a walk.
